What are the Difference Types of Glass Break Detector

A Glass Break Detector is a sensor designed to detect the sound or vibration caused by glass breaking. It is commonly used in security systems to provide an additional layer of protection for windows, glass doors, or any other glass surfaces, alerting users or triggering an alarm if someone tries to gain entry by breaking glass. The following are the types of glass break detectors:

1. Sound-Based Detection (Acoustic Glass-Break Sensors)

This sensor effectively detects sound, making it the only sensor needed in a small room. By placing the sensor centrally, it will effectively capture sound from any of the windows.

Acoustic glass-break detectors confidently utilise narrowband microphones connected to electronic circuitry. The simplest of these devices are expertly tuned to the typical frequencies emitted by breaking glass.

Advanced sensors operate using a two-step process. First, these sensors are triggered when the sound reaches a specific amplitude level. Then, they analyse the sound to identify statistical similarities with different examples of breaking glass. If there is a close match, the detector sends an alert. This two-step process efficiently conserves the sensor's battery life by allowing it to enter sleep mode. An example of this type of glass break product is the Hikvision Wired Glass Break Detector DS-PDBG8-EG2.

2. Vibration-Based Detection (Shock Glass Break Sensors)

In contrast to acoustic glass break detectors, shock glass break detectors are placed directly on the glass of a window or door. They detect vibrations instead of sound. Each detector has an electrical wire attached to the glass. Any movement of the glass triggers the wire, setting off the alarm. This means they can notify you if someone hits your window without breaking it. You need to adjust the sensitivity level. An example of this type of glass break product is the Hikvision Wired Shock Detector DS-PDSK-P.
